Selfish Plants

Year/2021
A group of solar-powered lights that have evolved to be as diverse as plants, sticking to windows, wrapping around structures, and so on. Solar power generation has a wonderful quality similar to that of photosynthesis in plants. Despite this, I questioned the mainstream energy cycle, which is still based on the same efficiency-oriented approach of using a large plot of land, putting up solar panels all over, generating electricity in one place, and then distributing the electricity to each household. Just like plants, which evolve beautifully and diversely according to the environment in which they live and the amount of energy they need to survive, lighting fixtures themselves could also evolve and adapt to their environment. From this perspective, I designed a lighting fixture that extends its habitat to places that were previously considered unusable for solar power generation and struggles to collect energy only for its own light.
