The Other Side/Skin Of The Earth

Year/2022

There are two sides to every story. For each issues, this magazine focuses on things you often see in real life, but showing them in ways you've never seen before.
Rocks are the largest element of the earth's foundation, showing us both the culture that mankind has built and the grandeur of nature that transcends mankind. In this second issue of the magazine, I have divided the landscapes I have seen in various parts of Japan during my own travels to Vanlife and Japan into two series, contrasting the rocky landscapes created by the history of human culture with those created by the forces of nature.

Series01 : Keep It Natural

The earth's skin, known as the crust, creates diverse and fascinating forms depending on the composition of the rock itself and the environment to which it has been exposed that are hard to believe were formed naturally. This chapter introduces various rock landscapes around Japan created by nature.

Series02 : With A Little Skincare

Throughout the long history of mankind, we have always used rocks by transforming them into whatever shape we wanted.
By adding human intervention, we have found new uses for rocks and created expressions that nature could not produce. This chapter introduces rock landscapes newly created through human involvement.

Series03 : Skin Of The Earth

Rocks must have been an important part of our lives since mankind first conceived the idea of making weapons. The expression of rocks fascinates us with both the culture that humans have built and the majesty of nature that transcends mankind. In this chapter, the spots introduced so far will be described in detail.
